Subfloor Preparation

LVP Product Guide - What the Specs Actually Mean
Comparing LVP products can be confusing. Here's what to focus on:
Wear Layer
6 mil is entry-level. 12 mil for residential. 20 mil+ for heavy pets or commercial use. Thicker wear layer = longer surface life.
Total Thickness
4mm-6mm works over flat, solid subfloors. 8mm-12mm is more forgiving over minor subfloor variations and feels more solid underfoot.
Core Type
WPC (wood plastic composite) is softer and warmer underfoot. SPC (stone plastic composite) is denser, more dimensionally stable, and better for temperature-variable spaces.
Locking System
Most LVP uses a click-lock floating system. No glue or nails - planks click together and the floor floats over the subfloor. Makes installation faster and replacement easier.

LVP Installation
Layout is planned for the best visual result. Planks are installed with proper expansion gaps, careful cuts at obstacles, and consistent stagger pattern throughout.
Finishing & Cleanup
Transitions, baseboards, and quarter-round complete the installation. Everything is swept clean, furniture returned if moved, and you have a finished floor to enjoy.
